We invite you to join us in honoring our 2024 Milton Zipper Financial Executive of The Year award winner Patrick Minicus:

Patrick Minicus is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Catholic Health, responsible for the Long Island health care system’s overall financial portfolio. At a pivotal time in Catholic Health’s growth, having adopted an aggressive transformation strategy toward becoming a fully integrated health care system, Patrick leads all financial actions and operations in support of that strategy.

Patrick joined Catholic Health in 2017 as vice president of Strategic and Financial Planning, assuming responsibility for strategy, planning, service line support, financial planning and master facility planning.

Prior to his current role as CFO, Patrick served as Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasurer for Catholic Health, having oversight for the Long Island-based health care system’s overall financial portfolio. Under his direction, Catholic Health has modernized and enhanced its financial operations as well as its standing in its market.

Over his tenure at Catholic Health, Patrick managed a multi-year operating margin improvement initiative that resulted in sustained profitable operating results and an upgrade in Catholic Health’s Fitch and S&P ratings. He completed three capital debt financings in 2020 and 2021, including a $400 million taxable financing in 2020 at a fixed interest rate of 3.37%.

Additionally, he reorganized Catholic Health’s corporate finance division to modernize, streamline and enhance financial reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors, while creating a structure that supports the strategic goal of designing and implementing Strata across Catholic Health.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Patrick secured $330 million in CARES ACT funding, $328 million in accelerated payments from Medicare and Medicaid Services and documented $70+ million in Federal Emergency Management Agency eligible reimbursements.

Before joining Catholic Health, Patrick was a senior financial executive at Western Connecticut Health Network, based in Danbury, Connecticut. That $1.3 billion dollar health care system consisted of three hospitals, a large multispecialty employed physician group, a home care company, a malpractice captive and several affiliated entities.

Prior to that, he served as director of finance for Bridgeport Hospital, a member of Yale New Haven Health. He began his career in health care at Ernst & Young, where he managed audit engagements for several large academic medical centers and hospitals, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Mount Sinai, and Yale New Haven Health.

Patrick serves on the board of directors of PrecisionCare Surgery Center and The Center for Advanced Spine & Joint Surgery Board of Directors and is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s Metropolitan New York Chapter.

He earned his BBA in Accounting at Siena College in Loudonville, New York, graduating Cum Laude.

A strong believer in physical fitness, Patrick enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer, and their three daughters, skiing, running, hiking, kayaking, and swimming.
