Rob is the former Dean at the College of Management at Long Island University. Rob has served on the IMA- Long Island Board of Directors since 2016.

Dr. Valli has passed through the gates of three of the top five ranked universities in the World: Berkeley (BA ’82); Stanford Graduate School of Business (SEP ’95); and, Cambridge University (Ph.D. ’09). Dr. Valli’s professional background in investment banking; technology ventures in the Silicon Valley, policy development at the Kauffman Foundation and academic domain focus on emerging innovation ecosystems is unique in both perspective and relevance.

Dr. Valli’s Ph. D. thesis, Building Investment Readiness for University Spin-Outs through Partnerships & Alliances, underscores his scholarly pursuit of new enterprise development. Stewarding cross-campus innovation, outreach and professional development demands academic leaders who possess a vision-to-action-skill-set to catapult three pillars of interdisciplinary education: research, teaching and application.

As the former Director for Advancing Innovation at the $2.8 Billion Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Dr. Valli’s exposure to the Silicon Valley and the ‘Cambridge Phenomenon’ offers evidence-based experience that spans across the globe. Kauffman’s renowned platform for all-things-entrepreneurial, offered a lens by which to observe the interchange of academia and industry. This experience has resulted in a significant international network enabling a demonstrative degree of tacit knowledge necessary to propel university innovation and enterprise towards commercialization.

Throughout the past decade, Dr. Valli has forged long-term relations throughout the globe as a lecturer and adviser to a number of entrepreneurs, companies, universities and government policy-makers. A forthcoming book entitled Clusternomics is underway. Dr. Valli’s academic focus on entrepreneurship and technology management at Berkeley, Stanford, Cambridge and Illinois serves University leaders, innovators and investors striving to commercialize ideas toward sustainable enterprise. As a lecturer, Dr. Valli inspires student-efficacy, interdisciplinary interaction and public/private collaboration under the over-arching theme of building investability in ways that engender positive outputs for the sake of humanity.
