Philip Kanyuk, CPA

Mr. Kanyuk is Partner in Charge of the Business Valuation and Commercial Damages department at Nussbaum Berg Klein & Wolpow CPAs, LLP. Mr. Kanyuk is an Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers and Accredited in Business Valuation and Certified in Financial Forensics from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Kanyuk is also qualified by State of NY Unified Court System to serve as Accountant to Receiver pursuant to NYS Part 36. Mr. Kanyuk specializes in investigative and forensic accounting services for the public and private sector, he also provides services relative to damage calculations and business valuations in the litigation area. On numerous occasions he has been qualified as an expert witness in New York Supreme and Federal District Court, as well as, by the American Arbitration Association and Delaware Chancery Court. He is an experienced forensic and investigative accountant, expert witness and business valuator with over 20 years of litigation and damage calculation/valuation experience and over five years of public accounting experience. Mr. Kanyuk is a veteran litigation support expert who has taught and lectured on a wide range of valuation and forensic accounting issues.

Mr. Kanyuk has participated in a wide variety of projects during his litigation support and forensic services career, including: Business valuations, Damage calculations, Internal corporate investigations, Business fraud, Conflicts of interest/breach of fiduciary duty/corruption, Manipulation of financial statements/earnings management, and Procurement fraud and kickbacks.

Mr. Kanyuk supports individuals and companies in all phases of litigation from pre-trial discovery through expert testimony. He assists attorneys and their clients with a variety of accounting, business, economic, financial and valuation aspects of litigation. His area of focus includes: Matrimonial/shareholder disputes, General commercial litigation, Contract disputes, Trust and estate disputes, Professional liability and Employment and earnings disputes.

In addition to the litigation and forensic accounting experience, Mr. Kanyuk has approximately five years experience as a public accountant and auditor. He has been involved in all phases of a traditional accounting practice including certified audits, reviews and compilations, financial statements and income tax return preparation.

Paul Strohmenger, CPA

Managing Partner of Nettle Bay Partners

Paul Strohmenger, CPA, is a seasoned financial and management professional with broad experience advising companies and organizations of all sizes and in many industries.

For the past 25 years, Paul has been the Managing Partner of Nettle Bay Partners, a company he founded to provide financial management services to clients in healthcare, technology, distribution, transportation, services, BtoC online services, and engineering industries among others. Nettle Bay Partners acts as a company’s outsourced COO and CFO, helping clients optimize their business whether its profitability and cash flow improvements, the sale of the business, managing rapid growth or turnaround challenges.

Paul’s began his 10 year career at Deloitte, where in addition to client services, he was a member of the firm’s leadership teams as a National Industry Specialist in both its Healthcare and Banking Practices sectors.

As an adjunct professor in the School of Management at the CW Post campus of Long Island University, Paul has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in finance and accounting. He has also created an accredited course for attorneys on how to read and understand financial statements.

Paul is also deeply invested in helping his community. He is co-founder of the Victims Impact Panel of the Nassau County Probation Department. The panel provides a forum for victims to tell their personal stories of how their lives were forever changed by the actions of drunk or impaired drivers. He is also co-founder of the Hewlett Woodmere Education Foundation and former Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Hewlett-Woodmere School Board.

In recognition of his achievements, Paul was awarded CFO of the Year by Long Island Business News.

Paul is a tri-athlete and distance swimmer.

Ernie Smith, CPA/ABV/CFF, CVA, CFE

Ernest Patrick Smith CPA/ABV/CFF, CVA, CFE, is a is the Managing Partner at Nawrocki Smith LLP. Mr. Smith specializes in investigative and forensic accounting services for the public and private sector in the litigation area with over 25 years of experience. On numerous occasions he has been qualified as an expert witness in New York State Supreme, other State jurisdictions and Federal District Courts. Mr. Smith is also an expert in the area of internal controls and taxation. Furthermore, Mr. Smith teaches and lectures on a wide range of forensic, valuation and accounting/tax related issues. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Accounting at Hofstra University teaching the first ever offered course in Fraud Examination and Forensic Accounting. Presently, he is an Adjunct Professor at the State University of New York at Old Westbury teaching Business Valuation, Financial Statement Fraud and other related courses in their Masters in Forensic Accounting program.
