Henry Shapiro is an associate in the Long Island, New York, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Henry’s practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters where he regularly provides preventive advice and counsel to clients.  Henry also practices in traditional labor law areas such as collective bargaining, labor arbitration, contract administration and representation, and unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. Henry regularly counsels clients in the development and completion of preventive labor and employee relations programs and has represented management with respect to union organizational drives.

Additionally, Henry conducts management training seminars on topics including maintaining a union-free environment, equal employment opportunity, avoiding discrimination and sexual harassment and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, FMLA and New York Paid Family Leave Benefits Law.

Collen Merlo

An experienced, dynamic and committed non-profit leader, Colleen Merlo, a licensed social worker and a Rocky Point resident, has worked for more than twenty years in the not-for-profit sector, focusing on issues of violence, mental health, gender equity, and poverty.

 

Ms. Merlo is the CEO of the Association for Mental Health and Wellness (MHAW), where she provides strategic leadership to the organization. MHAW Based in Ronkonkoma, the Association for Mental Health and Wellness is a not-for-profit organization that provides programs, services, and advocacy for people in Suffolk County who face mental health challenges, with an enhanced focus on service to veterans.  Colleen earned a master’s degree in Social Work at SUNY Stony Brook’s School of Social Welfare. She received a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Psychology from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City.

She is a past co-chair of the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Long Island, serves on the board of the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island, as well as the Suffolk County Teen Pregnancy Advisory Board. She is a past board member of MHAW as well as the Suffolk County Family Violence Task Force, chairing the Prevention Sub-Committee. She was honored two consecutive years by Long Island Business News, receiving the Top 50 Women in Business award in 2019 and the Non-Profit Leadership Excellence award in 2020.

Stephanie Curry is an experienced HR professional currently working at Sherwood Lumber Corp. as the Director of Human Resources. There, she is responsible for all Human Resource functions for the nationwide organization. Stephanie has her MBA with a concentration in Human Resources and a BS in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Stony Brook University and is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-CP, PHR). Stephanie also serves in a variety of roles outside her organization and is currently co-chair of the Hauppauge Industrial Association (HIA) HR committee and helps organize events for DisruptHR Long Island.
